Jam Session

Free tasting | Saturday, August 3, 2019 | 4-6PM

We’ve got some jammin’ picks for your summer wine and music fix! Our team of cheesemongers and wine slingers at the shop have all sorts of musical tastes, likes, dislikes and very strong and varying opinions about music in general. We’re lucky that we’re able to play an array of tunes at the shop all day long and never get bored, and if we do get bored of the same playlist or song (i.e. Leon Bridges’ song ‘River’ – sorry Leon), we can just change up the genre and keep things fresh. We’ve made you a very diverse Spotify playlist with some of the team’s favorite bands and songs of the summer, and this Saturday from 4-6PM we’re opening five jammin’ red wines that are easy drinking summer sippers. Come on by, listen to some tunes, drink some wine and relax with us!

Kiri – Loves her some Soul and Funk, Otis Redding, and slightly obsessed with Lianne La Havas, an English singer/songwriter that’s a hushed, sexy hybrid of alternative folk and soul

Molly – 50’s and 60’s soul singers like Aretha Franklin and Etta James; can’t get enough of Broadway soundtracks especially Wicked, Heathers: The Musical, and the 1983 hit ‘It’s Raining Men’ by The Weather Girls is the best music video she’s ever seen (and it really is the BEST)

Jimmy – Our resident walking musical encyclopedia with a deep knowledge of punk, jazz, and favors The Aggrollites (SoCal Reggae Soul band) and Fela Kuti (Afrobeat) at the moment

Ingrid – Norwegian Electronica and Alternative bands, Trummor & Orgel (i.e. Drummer and Organ – a Swedish jazz/pop duo), Soundtrack of our Minds (also Swedish), Willie Nelson

phish.jpg

Brie – All about that POP (Janelle Monáe, SZA, Robyn); ‘A Star is Born’ soundtrack on repeat (and yes, Gaga and Bradley ARE dating)

Jake – Lately, musical tastes range from Blood Orange to Buffalo Springfield to Thom Yorke, and is really digging 1950’s Italian film composer Piero Piccioni and the Motown genius of Smokey Robinson

Chris – a true Heavy Metal expert (some current favorites (and shop appropriate lyrics) include Iron Maiden, Mastadon, Animals as Leaders), and old school hip hop (Nas)

Susan – Lettuce, Trey Anastasio’s new Album ‘Ghosts of the Forest,’ ‘The Sound of Music’ soundtrack (it’s not annoying yodeling ‘The Lonely Goatherd’ in our back office, right??), Dolly Parton

Christine – Good ole rock n’ roll (the 1969 fourth and final studio album ‘Goodbye’ from Cream, anyone?) with some new wave and country thrown in like the B52’s and Lyle

Joe – Hip Hop connoisseur, blasts ‘90s tunes every Sunday while rockin’ the meat slicer, and more recently has been listening to Zara Larsson, The Knocks, and Ozomati (an L.A. based hip hop/Latin/funk band)

David – ‘Davide’ enjoys Italian Chill Lounge music, Rupaul, or anything to catwalk to

Peter Reggae, baby! Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, and Toots & the Maytals to name a few. Classics and summer in a nutshell.
