Livin’ that Limnio Life

Domaine Tatsis is located in the Macedonia region of Northern Greece, and has been cultivating vineyards for over 100 years. In general, vineyards in this area are at a lower level of altitude than the rest of Greece, with hillier terrain and rolling fields, as opposed to rocky mountains. The grapes grow upon various soil types including sand, schist, clay, loam, and even marble and ancient potsherds.

Domaine Tatsis is run by brothers Periklis and Stergios Tatsis who have grown their property to over 14 hectares of certified organic vines. Since the 1990s, they have been making natural wines, employing organic and biodynamic farming, and fermenting exclusively with native yeasts; they are among the very first natural Greek winemakers to export worldwide.

2019 Domaine Tatsis 'Limnio' undergoes a short maturation in oak barrels, which imparts extra finesse and structure to the wine. There is a purity to this red that is unparalleled. It’s medium-bodied, with notes of red cherry, black pepper, Mediterranean herbs, and a refreshing Kalamata olive zing on the finish. Beyond the fruity, herbal, and salty notes, Limnio offers spicy and bright flavors making this a complex yet approachable red for the warmer summer months.

Greek wines can pair to a whole assortment of dishes. With this rustic and fruity Limnio, bring on the pork or lamb chops, or if you prefer veggies, try roasted summer squash with extra butter and sear, or even an eggplant moussaka.

HOT TIP: This natural wine has no added sulfur and drinks at its best when it’s first opened! Do not decant, and do not expect it to hold up day after day. We recommend chilling it slightly and enjoying it immediately after opening.
